Our Early Years - Article 1
Since York Hospital first opened its doors to patients on July 22, 1906, it has been serving the health care needs of York and the surrounding communities. Starting out as a summer cottage built high upon "Breezy Knoll" in York Village, York Hospital has since grown to become one of the most respected, caring and sophisticated facilities in the Seacoast area. But how did we get from there to here? Following is an except from York Hospital's very fi rst publication, "The York Hospital" published in 1906 by the York Printing Company in York Village. It describes how the hopes and dreams of just a few physicians and community members began to turn their dream of a hospital into reality.

Our Early Years - Article 2
Following is the second and last excerpt of "The York Hospital," published by the York Printing Company in 1906. When we left off last week, the Davidson estate in York Village had just become available for purchase, and fundraising efforts had begun.

Our Early Years - Article 3
On September 3, 1904, hospital Clerk Albert M. Bragdon began an official handwritten recording of York Hospital's Board of Trustee minutes. Simply titled "Record," the yellowed pages reveal a fascinating glimpse of York Hospital's early years - from its incorporation in 1904 to meeting minutes in June of 1933 describing a vote to make a loan for funds to be used to install the new hospital elevator. We'll share some of these with you over the next few months, and hope you enjoy reading them as much as we have!
