York Hospital is honored to share the story of a patient who, after two weeks in the hospital with one week in the ICU, has recovered from COVID-19 and been discharged from YH.  This gentleman’s fight has inspired the entire hospital staff amidst these challenging times.  We’re happy to share a video of his discharge as well as a beautiful letter of gratitude from his family.
To the York Hospital staff,

Thank you again for your love and support you have bestowed upon my father. Not being able to see him or speak to him in person was heart wrenching, but knowing you were all there and giving him your all, made this uphill battle much easier to bear. No matter what time of day, night; busy or not; your team was there to give me any and all updates and information, regardless if it was good or bad. You allowed me to vent and ask questions and just be involved wholeheartedly in my father’s battle with COVID-19.

It was a long 5 weeks, and I know I couldn’t have had him in any better hands than yours. The little things; letting us Face Time him and hanging my daughters’ posters in the room, provided his family hope and no doubt gave him the push he needed to get to the position he is in today. My dad is the strongest man I know and because of you, he was able to demonstrate that strength.

There was a point that I didn’t think I was going to speak to or hear from my dad again; as though we were waiting for the inevitable. However, you guys went above and beyond, worked tirelessly, and approached this from every angle possible. Your compassion, optimism and kindness did not go unnoticed, my family and I will never forget. In these crazy, scary and unknown times you all stepped up, rose to the occasion and never backed down but also went above and beyond for patient (and their families) care. From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you, and I always will be grateful my father was in your hands.

Love,
K. and our entire Family
