We are pleased to introduce you to Mattie Porter. Mattie is a Medical Assistant with Webhannet Internal Medicine, and has been part of the YH family for almost four years. Mattie began her career by taking an initiative in print and web journalism at Husson College. When she observed that the printed newspapers industry was taking a bit of a dive, she decided to return to school for healthcare knowledge, and quickly obtained her Medical Assistant degree. She joined the YH community as a member of the Wound Care team, and shared with us that she received a wealth of valuable information from the stellar members of the group.
For those who love fur babies, Mattie is no exception. She is a mom to two Maine coon cats who are both 10 years young. Her husband is one of the dedicated members of the Mechanical Engineering crew at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Mattie is an avid concert goer, leaning towards what many would consider “hard rock.” She is also a hiker extraordinaire, and has hiked in San Diego, the White Mountains and even across the pond in Scotland. She is a lover and collector of antique books, particularly old fairy tales and fiction, along with syncing her passion for music with music memorabilia. Be sure to ask her how she obtained her vintage guitars!
Mattie’s career with York Hospital has included sharing her knowledge with other students in the Medical Assisting field. Thus far, she has mentored six interns, two of whom have continued with
York Hospital as Medical Assistants, thanks to Mattie’s guidance!
