We are pleased to share the latest information regarding expanded eligibility for COVID-19 booster shots, per the Maine CDC’s  most recently updated guidelines. In addition to the previous approval of a THIRD DOSE of the MODERNA or PFIZER COVID-19 vaccine for patients who are moderately to severely immuno-crompromised, patients are now eligible for a BOOSTER six (6) months or more after the initial series of two shots if any of the following criteria are met:

  • 65 years and older
  • Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
  • Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
  • Age 18+ who work or live in high risk settings

Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine to receive as their booster dose. (Please note that York Hospital offers Moderna vaccine and booster shots but does not currently offer the Pfizer vaccine.) Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received and others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC guidelines now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots. For more information, visit the CDC website.
