Since the coronavirus pandemic began, so many thoughtful people have reached out to York Hospital to lend a hand by donating food and supplies for our caregivers. Today we want to acknowledge some generous donors whose contributions are about as perfectly matched as hands and gloves.

First, thank you to Wiggly Bridge Distillery and Stonewall Kitchen for working hand-in-hand to produce and package hand sanitizer for local hospitals, police departments, first responders, and nursing homes. York Hospital was thrilled to receive their donation last week of 16-ounce pump bottles and 1-gallon jugs of Antiseptic Hand Rub with which to refill them. Our couriers delivered these to each of our York Hospital locations where they will be well used.

Soon after, Shane and Mandy Smith, owners of Smith’s All Natural in York, delivered a case of their Hand & Body Balm to help soothe caregivers’ hands from so much washing and sanitizing. Made from three organic ingredients (cocoa butter, beeswax and pure sweet almond oil), the balm moisturizes skin without leaving it greasy or oily, and is hand-poured by the Smith family right in York Village. Accompanying the donation was a child’s rainbow drawing and handwritten note of appreciation that said, “Thank you so much for your service and dedication to our community. You are the real heroes!”

Please join us in a big round of applause to thank these caring community members for their generosity and for keeping our caregivers’ hands safe and soft!

If you would like to support to York Hospital’s COVID-19 efforts, we are gratefully accepting donations to our Caring for All Fund as well as supplies or other items. Visit www.yorkhospital.com/give.
