York Hospital is pleased to recognize several area volunteers for recent donations to the hospital. These volunteers have used their time and their creative talents to literally blanket our patients with warmth and comfort. We are thankful for the skill of these volunteers and their generous spirits that have enabled our caregivers to present patients with handmade lap quilts or tummy time blankets to help foster strength and healing.
Cocheco Quilters Guild: Thank you to York Hospital community volunteers from Cocheco Quilters Guild of Dover, NH for donating a large number of baby and adult lap quilts to the hospital. The Guild meets monthly in Dover, New Hampshire and is open to all, although most members reside in seacoast New Hampshire or southern Maine. In addition to monthly meetings, the Guild works to promote the art, skill and joy of quilt making through an annual quilt show, workshops with guest speakers, weekend quilting retreats and excursions to major regional quilt shows, as well as supporting the New England Quilt Museum and local charities.
Tummy Time Blankets from Lisa Roderick: Ogunquit resident Lisa Roderick recently stopped in to drop off 36 Tummy Time blankets that were “handmade with love” by Lisa specifically for the York Hospital Birthing Center. The blankets will keep some of our littlest patients comfortable and cozy on the floor while they embark on adventures of growth and discovery during “tummy time” sessions.
Kudos to these community volunteers for being sew thoughtful as they share their time and talents to literally provide comfort and warmth to York Hospital patients of all ages. It is greatly appreciated!
