Eighty years have passed and over $625,000 has been raised since the first Women’s Committee event was held to benefit York Hospital. From 1931, and the first donation of $175 for the installation of plumbing equipment to the original “cottage” hospital, no one would argue the positive impact that their donations have made to the patients of York Hospital. Perhaps it was the Tilt Table in the Cath Lab donated in 2000, the only one of its kind in the Seacoast Area, that enables physicians to efficiently and safely diagnose patients, or the innovative Harmonic Scalpel in 2001, serving doctors during a myriad of surgical procedures, that made a difference to someone you know. Or for your family, the Sentinel Node Biopsy System (2003), the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (2006) in Cardiology or the Sonosite Ultrasound Equipment donated in 2009 that may have eased post-operative discomfort or offered a loved one greater post-surgical mobility, and most recently in 2010, the construction of the new Breast Care Reception Area, providing women with privacy and comfort. These projects were made possible thanks to the generosity and efforts of the members of the Women’s Committee.
