Pharmacy

Due to nationwide staffing challenges, the York Hospital Pharmacy hours are now:

Monday – Friday
9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Closed Saturday & Sunday

Please note – The turnaround for prescription refills is 48 hours. To help expedite prescription requests, we ask that our patients and community members use the automated refill system whenever possible, by calling 207-351-2150 ext. – 1.

You may also consider asking the pharmacist to put your prescription(s) on automatic refill. After registering, you will receive notification that your medication is ready for pick up via your preferred method of communication: text, email, or phone. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause, and ask your patience as York Hospital continues to navigate these health care challenges.

York Hospital’s Pharmacy team offers both a comprehensive pharmacy service to take care of the medication needs of patients at the hospital; and retail pharmacies where community members can get prescriptions filled (or delivered to their homes) or speak with pharmacists about any questions they may have. Retail locations are at the hospital (York Hospital Apothecary, near the main entrance). For your convenience, you can request a prescription renewal online. Just click the link below:

The Apothecary is a “Good Neighbor” pharmacy and offers full retail pharmaceutical services, including a convenient online prescription renewal service. We pride ourselves on that one-on-one, old fashioned attention you just can’t get at big chain pharmacies. Here, we take the time to get to know you and your history. We strive to give that warm, comforting feeling of neighborhood and family. Trust in us for all your prescription and retail needs, as well as the advice that you will pass on to your own family for years to come. A few other things we think you’ll like about us:

  • A pharmacist is always available to answer your questions.
  • Conveniently located right in York Hospital
  • We accept most insurances and have great pricing options!

The hospital pharmacy is responsible for dispensing medications and compounding intravenous fluids to hospital patients. The hospital utilizes a computerized dispensing system called “Pyxis” to assist with the safe delivery of medications. These systems allow for drug interaction checks, allergy checks, and the availability of most medications directly to patient care areas.
