York Hospital’s annual Hancock Classic fundraiser hit the seas for a cool cruise on Wednesday, July 26, aboard the MV Thomas Laighton in Portsmouth Harbor. A crowd of 100-plus partygoers enjoyed a beautiful sunset and some smooth sailing in support of healthy aging.
As York Hospital CEO Dr. Patrick A. Taylor commented, “We really couldn’t have asked for a better evening to celebrate our community of donors and the wonderful older adult care services supported by the Hancock Family Fund for Health Aging at York Hospital. We’re so grateful for the Hancock family and their extended network of friends, foundations and corporations who attend this annual event to help raise funds and awareness about our healthy aging programs offered throughout our Seacoast communities.”
The York Hospital Hancock Family Fund for Healthy Aging was established by Hancock siblings Josh, Emi and Cal to celebrate the lives of their parents, Frank and Kay Hancock, who were residents of Cape Neddick and longtime supporters of York Hospital. The fund provides a wide array of clinical and supportive services to adults age 65+ in southern Maine and New Hampshire.
Josh Hancock added: “We’re amazed by how impactful this fund has become over the years and how grateful our community is for these York Hospital services. To think that the hospital provides 8,500 free patient rides to and from medical appointments each year and delivers prescriptions and healthy meals directly to seniors in their homes is really incredible. We met medical providers on the boat who visit older adults in their homes through the hospital’s House Calls program and we met other individuals and groups who donate to York Hospital because they love seeing the tangible ways the hospital gives back to this special community. My sisters and I—and our friends and families—are pleased to help York Hospital continue this important work through the fund that bears our family’s name.”
