The York Hospital Recovery Center is grateful for a $5,000 grant provided by the Community Sharing Committee of St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Ogunquit, supporting the provision of medications to people seeking treatment for opioid use disorder. Eric Haram, Consultant Director of York Hospital’s Recovery Center, stated, “On behalf of the patients and staff at The Recovery Center, we are very grateful for this generous continuation of funding from St. Peter’s By The Sea. We saw the impact these funds had for our patients and our team last year. Providing brief, urgent access to life-saving medications for opioid use disorder has made a difference in patients’ lives and continues to help in removing barriers to care, which ultimately improves the health of those we treat.”

York Hospital President and CEO, Dr. Patrick Taylor, added, “We cannot do this important work without the support of a caring community and we’re very grateful that the Community Sharing Committee at St. Peter’s by the Sea has committed resources to help this vulnerable population in such a tangible manner.”

The Recovery Center team consists of a panel of licensed counselors, nurses, medical providers, and recovery coaches with years of experience in treating patients with substance use disorders. The team evaluates and works with each patient to develop an individualized plan of care. This may include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), one-on-one sessions, a group intensive outpatient program (IOP), and/or one of several outpatient groups focusing on recovery maintenance and life-coping skills. All programs and services provide access to group or individual recovery coaches. Clients are encouraged to take advantage of all of these resources as a part of active treatment, as well as for ongoing support.

St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church is a historic seasonal chapel on Shore Road in Cape Neddick, Maine with Sunday worship services from June to mid-October. St. Peter’s believes that loving God and loving neighbor mean putting faith into action. With this mission in mind, Sunday offerings are given to several agencies in our community, partnering with them to improve and enrich lives. Karl Sanford, Chairperson of the church’s Community Sharing Committee, offered, “The St. Peter’s summer family of ‘regulars’ and visitors is amazingly generous and mindful of the needs of others. All the recipient organizations do important work in supporting our community neighbors who have urgent needs, but who may fall between the cracks of existing programs. With that said, we are reminded of the teaching that, ‘Every good and perfect gift comes from above.’”
