Kenneth Fellows, Fish House Lunch (Monhegan)

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has proclaimed April 15 to be World Art Day — a day of celebration to promote the development, diffusion and enjoyment of art, encourage greater awareness of the diversity of artistic expressions, and reinforce the links between artistic creations and society, goals that are more important today than ever before.

In conjunction with World Art Day, we are pleased to announce the latest exhibition in York Hospital’s cafeteria and online art gallery series. Maine Seacoast in Watercolors, an installation of watercolor paintings by Board of Trustees member Dr. Ken Fellows, will be on view through June 30 in the cafeteria as well as in our online gallery.

After retiring from academic medicine and moving to Kittery Point almost 25 years ago, Dr. Fellows started drawing and painting as a hobby. He notes: “Only pond-hockey and pick-up basketball are as much fun as painting, but art is far more enduring and satisfying!”

A portion of the proceeds from each piece sold will be donated to support York Hospital’s Caring for All Fund. To learn more about Dr. Fellows and his art, please visit the York Hospital online Art Gallery. The online gallery also includes works from previous exhibitions.
