In just over a week, the York Hospital Dining and Nutrition team served a total of 639 Free Thanksgiving meals with all of the trimmings—to staff and community members on Thanksgiving Day in the Dining Room and at York Hospital in Wells, to residents of the York Housing Authority earlier that week, York Table of Plenty the previous week and the Eliot Senior Center. The Dining Team also delivered 23 meals to housebound community members on Thanksgiving Day.

This generous effort was made possible by the Dining & Nutrition staff, with Director Jorge Descart, Nutritionist Leisa Smith and all of the hard working volunteers! Perry Wilford, Kristen Wilford Gustavsen, and Lucy Gustavsen volunteered to deliver most of the meals. Volunteer Howard Koeppel delivered to Berwick and then spent hours helping to serve in the YH Dining Room! Sheila and Jay Kilgore volunteered to deliver inpatient meals to patients, and also helped keep the Dining Room clean and stocked.

Three un-named but awesome volunteers came to cut pie in the YH Dining Room! There was much to be thankful for, from the wonderful food for all, to enough gratitude and loving kindness to go around. York Hospital’s Dining Services offers a variety of delicious foods. York Hospital patients, visitors and staff enjoy, among other things, lobster rolls, roast sirloin dinners, homemade breads,  seafood chowder, gourmet coffee and decadent desserts.
