The Diabetes Education program at the Living Well Center is still available. Education is the cornerstone to an effective diabetes management plan. All of our educators are specially trained with advanced degrees, either as Registered Dietitians (RD) or Registered Nurses (RN), and Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) certificate training.
Our team includes certified diabetes educators (CDE) and our program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association. We are passionate in our commitment to helping each person gain the knowledge and skills necessary to control their diabetes and to achieve the highest level of wellness possible. Services are provided by specialists – Karen Gilroy, RN, CDE and Barbara Moriarty, RD, LD, CDE, who recognize that each person is an unique individual with unique needs.
Diabetes is a chronic condition whose presence can intrude into every aspect of one’s life. The Diabetes Education staff work with many providers in helping educate patients about their condition. Our mission is to provide our clients with the information they need to work toward obtaining the best diabetes control possible for them. This involves assisting with the integration of self-care behaviors into their decision making process with their physician, and of achieving optimal health outcomes and quality of life.
Please visit Diabetes & Endocrinology Associates of York Hospital to learn more about the treatment options provided by Dr. Thabo Kenosi and team.
Note: most insurances will provide coverage for diabetes self-management education, but it is recommended that patients check their specific insurance policies for details.
