York Hospital Earns ‘Excellent’ Ratings for Patient Experience & Communication from U.S. News & World Report

In the most recent U.S. News & World Report 2026-2027 Best Hospitals Rankings and Ratings, York Hospital has earned ‘Excellent’ ratings for patient experience, nurse communications and safe transition to home across multiple treatment categories. These results reflect York Hospital’s commitment to providing patients with high-quality care in an environment where they feel informed and supported throughout their hospital visit.

The 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report team reviewed over 4,500 adult inpatient hospitals nationwide. Their methodology draws on years of Medicare data, patient insurance claims and experience surveys, and other standardized measures. This year increased emphasis was placed on risk-adjusted outcomes such as survival and complication rates. Together, these measures provide a comprehensive assessment of hospital quality and patient care.

York Hospital received an “Excellent” rating for Patient Experience and Nurse Communication in the following areas:

  • Colon Cancer Surgery
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Attack
  • Knee Replacement
  • Pacemaker Implantation

York Hospital received an “Excellent” rating for Patient Experience, Nurse Communication, and Safe Transition Directly to Home in all the following areas:

  • Back Surgery/Spinal Fusion
  • COPD
  • Heart Arrhythmia
  • Heart Failure
  • Hip Fracture
  • Hip Replacement
  • Kidney Failure
  • Pneumonia

These results highlight an important part of a safe hospital experience – the communication and compassion that are integral to quality medical care. When nurses communicate clearly and listen carefully, patients are better equipped to participate in their care and understand what comes next. York Hospital’s strong results in discharge and recovery at home also reflect the hospital's focus on safe transitions from inpatient to the next stage of recovery – home, when medically appropriate.

“We are proud of the dedication our teams demonstrate every day,” said Dr. Patrick Taylor, President and CEO of York Hospital. “Patients deserve excellent clinical care, but they also deserve to be heard, respected, and kept informed. These results recognize the collaborative approach that helps make a visit to York Hospital a safe and supportive experience.”

York Hospital is grateful to its providers, nurses, clinical teams, and support staff for their continued commitment to patients, families and the communities they serve.
