York Hospital Expands Breast Care Services, Bringing Specialized Expertise Closer to Home
York Hospital has recently expanded its Breast Care Services program. Together, a team of fellowship-trained specialists, along with advanced diagnostic tools, is delivering more coordinated breast care in one location.
The enhanced program is designed to make it easier for patients to move through each stage of care. From screening and diagnosis, and when necessary to treatment and reconstruction, it allows patients to access specialized expertise closer to home, avoiding long- distance travel to larger medical centers.
The Breast Care team includes breast fellowship-trained radiologists Amanda Lewis, DO, and Kristen Kokonis, MD, who specialize in breast imaging and minimally invasive diagnostic procedures. Their work supports early and accurate detection using technologies such as 3D mammography, ultrasound, breast MRI, and image-guided biopsy.
As one of the region’s few Comprehensive Breast Imaging Centers accredited by The American College of Radiology, York Hospital offers a full range of diagnostic services aimed at providing answers promptly. The imaging team works quickly and closely with surgeons and other specialists to review findings and coordinate their patients’ next steps.
If treatment is needed, patients have access to a surgical team that includes oncologic surgeon Lisa Rutstein, MD, and general surgeon William Kiley, DO. Together, they develop individualized treatment plans based on each patient’s diagnosis, preferences, and overall health. Options range from breast-conserving procedures to more complex cancer surgeries; decisions are guided by a team-based approach.
For patients considering reconstruction, reconstructive plastic surgeon Therese White, MD, offers options tailored to each patient’s priorities. Care is focused not only on clinical outcomes, but long-term well-being and quality of life.

Patients are supported throughout the process by York Hospital’s Nurse Navigation team. Nurse navigators help coordinate appointments, answer questions, and guide patients through what can often feel like an overwhelming process.
“Breast care is about much more than a diagnosis,” said York Hospital President and CEO Dr. Patrick Taylor. “It’s about helping patients feel informed, supported, and cared for throughout their experience. Our goal is to provide that level of care here in the community, so patients can stay close to their support systems while receiving the services they need.”
