York Village Quilters Offer Patchwork of Warmth and Compassion to York Hospital Patients
York Hospital is incredibly grateful to the York Village Quilters, whose commitment is among the strongest threads in the fabric of the hospital’s volunteer community. Through years of generosity and dedication, not to mention, skill, craftsmanship and countless hours of volunteer service, they have donated hundreds of handmade quilts to York Hospital. The quilts have not only brought comfort to patients, but also supported hospital fundraisers; and most recently helped celebrate “their own” at our recent Volunteer Appreciation event.
A special thank you goes to Corry “Cookie” Tarbox, who serves as the liaison between the York Village Quilters and the hospital. Her enthusiasm and dedication, along with her caring nature, have made her a valued friend of York Hospital.
"Cookie is always willing to go the extra mile," said Kate Ford, Director of Volunteer and Student Services. "She is so much fun to work with, always arriving at the hospital with a suitcase full of beautiful creations. We truly appreciate everything she and the York Village Quilters do for our hospital.
We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the talented members of the York Village Quilters who generously share their beautiful handiwork: Joanie Gaffney, Sally Hartford, Sandy Lagerquist, Kay Passons, and Connie Small. Every quilt they make is a gift of comfort, reflecting the generous spirit of our community.
Thank you, Cookie and the York Village Quilters, for your support and kindness. Your keepsake quilts have touched countless lives, and we are deeply grateful for everything you do for our patients, volunteers, and hospital community.
