York Hospital Recognized for Social Responsibility
York Hospital has been named the top hospital in Maine on the 2025–26 Lown Institute Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility and ranks 38th nationally—earning an overall "A" grade among more than 2,700 acute care hospitals.
The Lown Institute, an independent health care think tank, evaluates more than 3,600 U.S. hospitals using a broad lens that includes clinical outcomes, equity, and community impact. Its rankings highlight hospitals that deliver exceptional, high‑value care to all members of their communities. As Lown Institute President Vikas Saini notes, “Our communities deserve socially responsible hospitals—and the ones at the top of our list set a great example.”
York Hospital earned Maine’s highest scores in Health Equity, Patient Outcomes, and Community Benefit. The hospital also received A grades in Avoiding Overuse, Value of Care, Clinical Outcomes, and Patient Satisfaction. These achievements reflect the dedication, expertise, and compassionate care provided by York Hospital’s caregivers. Thank you for all you do each day.
